This box is a modification of a box by Julie DiMatteo, at PaperPixie.com. Hers was made to fit a bath fizz. This will be for an EOS lip balm. It can be used for lots of other gifts, such as mini candy canes or chocolate. It looks a bit challenging, but hopefully, I can explain it well enough. If you have any questions, please reach out to me and I’ll try to make it clearer.
Start with a piece of cardstock that is 6 3/8 X 5. If you cut the 5 inch piece along the long side (11 inch side), you can get 2 out of a piece of cardstock.
Score along the 6 3/8 side at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 inches and then make a small tick mark by placing the stylus at the 1/2 mark and pressing down (don’t score a line, just press down). Then again at 1 1/2, 2 1/2, 3 1/2, 4 1/2, and
5 1/2. Turn counter clockwise , to the 5″ side, so that the small tick marks are on the left. Then score at 1 inch and 3 1/2.
For the Diagonal score line use a ruler and a stylus. Place the ball of the stylus at the 1/2 inch indentation mark you made. Move the ruler to the 0 inch mark on the first horizontal line and score diagonally. Repeat connecting the 1&1/2 inch mark to the 1 inch score line etc.
Fold and burnish on all lines. Gently fold the diagonal lines but don’t worry about them being burnished.
See my template. Red lines are fold lines, Blue lines are cut lines and striped boxes are cut out.
Fold in on the 3/8 inch score line and the one fold line to it. Put glue on the 3/8 inch piece. Fold the other side in and it should match up and glue the piece together.
Now fold the bottom folds in 1 set at a time. Make the last set be the front tab being glued going towards the back. The folds don’t completely overlap. There is about 1/4 inch from the end on each side.
As the glue is drying, set the liquid glue bottle inside to help press it all together. After the glue dries, refold the diagonal line on section that’s glued. It’s easier to do now, rather than later.
Insert the EOS lip balm into the container. It fits perfectly and won’t rattle around inside.
Now slowly push the diagonal folds to the right until all of them are laying down. You can leave it like this or you can “pop” it down. I prefer it down. The EOS is more secure.
Add any sentiment to it. I used a stitched oval and used 1/2 of the Pretty Label punch. then I used the 3/4 circle punch and placed them to make a heart. The sentiment “for you” is from the Itty Bitty Greatings stamp set. I will put a link to the products below.
Since the festive farmhouse DSP is retired, here is one I did in coastal cabana and the Brights 6 x 6 DSP.
