I thought I’d make a chart for everyone to see what and how the different sizes and layers look like.  I would suggest that you cut out some random paper or cardstock to mimic the sizes.  That way you can play with what size you want to use before you glue anything.  Using neutral colors makes the contrasts clearer.  Here is the chart first:

Paper Size Tall Wide
A2 5-1/2 4-1/4
1 Half 5-3/8 4-1/8
2 1st Layer 5-1/4 4
3 1 + Half 5-1/8 3-7/8
4 2nd Layer 5 3-3/4
5 2 + half 4-7/8 3-5/8
6 3rd Layer 4-3/4 3-1/2

I left some spaces for you to fill in your own favorites.  Here are some cards made using the numbers noted above.  Two identical cards can look different, depending  on the layers used.

Many if not most people use just one layer, typically layer number 2.  It is pleasing to the eye and makes the card base stronger due to the added layer.  When using colored cardstock for the base, using an inside layer of Basic White makes the base layer even stronger.  No need to use the thick version of our Basic White cardstock.

This card only has the same second layer, but the tag with the sayings on it measures the same length as layer 6, it looks like an additional layer.

These next two cards only have 2 layers each, but they are different layers.  Card one has layer 4 and 5.  Card two has layer 2 and 4.

And the last card has 3 layers.  Using 2, 3, 6.

What layering do you use the most?  Which card do you like the most?  Leave me your comments below.  I used the same sets over and over again.  I’ve noted what supplies I used.  Of course you can get the same results using just one  set.
