Welcome to our Blog Hop to celebrate the Red White and Blue. Hope you are having a great day! Today’s blog is dedicated to colors: of summer, our flag, and general good cheer. I love these colors together. So here is to Red, White and Blue for whatever it makes you think about. Please consider visiting all of our Bloggers. See the list below.
I don’t own any patriotic type stamps, so I’m going with Colorful, lol. That’s kind of my jam anyway. I used mostly die cuts to make this card. After the first one, I decided to put it in portrait, so the next 7 were made that way. And yes, I did make 8. These are cool encouragement type of cards and can also be for lots of other occasions. Who doesn’t want to send good vibes.
I used the new magnetic cutting Plate. Right now the picture on the instructions is incorrect. DO NOT USE PLATE #2. You use 1, 5 (magnetic plate), paper, die with cutting side down and then one clear plate #3. I wrote it down right on my plate so I remember. Works like a dream. You can shake the plate and the dies don’t move!
Cutting Instructions:
- For portrait mode card SCORE a sheet of Starry Sky at 5-1/2 along 11 inch side. Rotate 90 degrees and cut at 4-1/4. Now both cards are scored!
- Cut Basic White 4-1/8 x 5-1/2 for Dots background. I needed this size to accommodate the holes for the front
- Scraps of Poppy Parade and Starry Sky for butterflies
- Stamp sentiment with Tuxedo Black and cut them out using “Picture This” because I needed something this long, but not fat.
Assembly:
- Glue Dots background and press with something heavy. I think I’ve mentioned I use block F 118483 as a flat paper weight. I have two of them and they work great. If glue gets on it, I just clean it off.
- Glue the 2 sets of the red butterfly with glue just in the center and then the blue body.
- The whole blue butterfly is on dimensionals as is the sentiment. That’s it! Your Done (This blog takes me longer to do then making all 8 cards, lol)

Thanks Sue. I was sweating it for a while. It’s the second time I didn’t really have a typical “fit” for the theme

Fantastic card! I’m just loving the polka dots with the contemporary butterflies.
Thanks Marilyn. I wasn’t sure exactly how that die would work out and it even leave a couple of rows on the end you can use elsewhere
