Hello fellow crafters.  Today’s blog is a nod to Halloween as it includes treats!  Well at least mine does.  I first made the little treat box with the bat wings on top. (You can do a bow, bunny ears and antlers too).  And it does hold 2 nice Dove chocolates.  So follow along and if you decide you want to see it hold bigger treats, keep scrolling!  Enjoy this post and join our other blog hoppers.

Cutting Instructions:

  1. Cut Basic Black paper 5-1/2 x 8-1/2.  You can make one box and one set of bat wings out of half a sheet of cardstock.
  2. Stamp “for you” on scrap of Basic White cardstock.  Using small oval in set, die cut out the saying.
  3. Using the shape shown above in Pumpkin Pie cut one to back the saying and then cut 3 pieces out of DSP.  I used the Black and White DSP.
  4. Fold and Burnish all going into the box except the two half circles which bend out.  Don’t worry, you can reverse the fold without damage, lol.
  5. Put your Dove Pumpkin Chocolates inside and fold up, slide the half circles through the slot.  When you put the bad wings on, you don’t even need glue.  See pic below:

BUT, if you want to give more candy or some other treat, here are the directions on how to make a 1 x 2 x 2 box.  They hold 2 Ghirardelli squares.  Lots of pictures and the directions are on this template HERE  box 1x2x2

Cutting Instructions for box:

  • Cut Pumpkin Pie cardstock to 7 x 10
  • Score along 10 in side at 2, 4, 6, and 8
  • Along the 7 in side score at 1, 3, 4, and 6
  • Fold and Burnish all score lines
  • Cut up two score lines on both sides along the 10 inch side (see pic)
  • Cut away areas that are in gray on the template.  For the 4 tabs, use the trimmer to cut at 3/4 in on all 4 tabs.  See Pics:
  • Do on both sides

  • Cut away the rest of the gray boxes as per the template.
  • Cut the tabs with a small wedge taken out of both sides.  If you need help with seeing what that looks like, see a different template here that has the mitered corners.  You will also need use a corner rounder for the top flap. Using 3/4 x 1-3/4 DSP x 4 for around the edges and a 1-3/4 square for the top.

Working with just the center, fold up until you have a box with the last square glued to the first square. (The one without the DSP is glued inside the 1st one that has the DSP.  Then the top and bottom are kind of self explanatory.  I glued the bottom but left the top loose to flip up to retrieve the treat. I used a flat Velcro circle on the inside flap.

Then I stacked them.  Makes it a bit more noticeable if you are using them for table favors, etc.  This would be cute for Christmas dinner too!
